THE SIN (Substitute It Now!) LIST

The SIN List is an NGO driven project intended to speed up the transition to a toxic free world. The SIN List 1.0 consists of 267 chemicals that have been identified as Substances of Very High Concern based on the criteria established by the new EU chemical regulation, REACH. The aim of the SIN List is to push the legislative process and provide a tool that businesses and other actors can use to substitute hazardous chemicals with safer alternatives - ahead of legislation.

SIN Reporter 2

The second issue of our SIN newsletter focuses on the SIN List in regulatory processes. Our Guest Writer, Margot Wallström, Vice-President of the European Commission, welcoms the SIN initiative and Ninja Reineke, WWF, describes the work of the ECHA Member State Committee. California chemicals regulation, the SAICM process, Korean industry and Sony Ericsson are also highlighted.

An NGO driven project

"The SIN list includes many of the hazardous chemicals WWF found in the blood of average Europeans, including children. More leadership from EU countries and institutions is now urgently needed to ensure replacement of these and other high concern chemicals contaminating wildlife and people."
