The NGOs behind the SIN List

The SIN List project is developed by ChemSec in close collaboration with an NGO Advisory Committee of nine mainly European NGOs dedicated to working with environmental-, health- and consumer issues.

 

European Environmental Bureau (EEB)

EEB is a federation of 143 environmental citizens organisations in 31 countries. The EEB has consultative status at the Council of Europe and the United Nations, and has working relations with the Commission of the European Union, the Economic and Social Committee of the European Union, and the OECD.

Friends of the Earth Europe campaigns for sustainable and just societies and for the protection of the environment, unites more than 30 national organisations with thousands of local groups and is part of the world's largest grassroots environmental network, Friends of the Earth International.

Greenpeace European Unit

Greenpeace European Unit is part of the international Greenpeace network, active in over 40 countries worldwide. Based in Brussels, they monitor and analyse the work of the EU institutions, expose deficient EU policies and laws, and challenge EU decision-makers to implement progressive solutions.

Instituto Sindical de Trabajo, Ambiente y Salud (ISTAS)

ISTAS (Union Institute of Work, Environment and Health) is a self-managed trade union's technical foundation supported by the Spanish Trade Union Confederation CCOO to promote the improvement of working conditions, occupational health and safety and environmental protection in Spain.

The European Consumers' Organisation (BEUC)

BEUC's membership include more than 40 well respected, independent national consumer organisations from some thirty European countries (EU, EEA and applicant countries). BEUC supports the empowerment of consumers through competitive markets, but complemented by health and safety safeguards. Only safe products and services, which do not put at risk our health, future generations or the environment, should be available on the EU market.

WECF is a network of 100 women's and environmental organisations in 40 countries. Our network spans Western Europe and the EECCA region (Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia). WECF has three offices: in the Netherlands, Germany and France.

The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL)

HEAL is a network of 60 citizens', patients', women's, health professionals' and environmental organisations across Europe. HEAL aims to raise awareness of how environmental protection improves health. It achieves this by creating opportunities for better representation of citizens' and health experts' perspectives in the environment and health-related European policy-making.
